A furnace never quits at a convenient hour. Ours don't either. We've been running out of a shop on East End Avenue since 1994, fixing the furnaces, boilers, and air conditioners of South Shore, Greater Grand Crossing, Avalon Park, Chatham, and Hyde Park — the bungalows, the two-flats, the six-flats, and the storefronts in between. No call center, no dispatcher reading from a script. You call, a tech answers, and if it's two in the morning in February, that's simply the job.

Section 01/Services
Most of our week is repair work on equipment that's already in the building — not sales. Here's the honest list, with what it usually costs and how long it usually takes.

Igniters, flame sensors, inducer motors, pressure switches, control boards, and the cracked heat exchangers that make people nervous. We carry the common parts for Carrier, Bryant, Trane, Lennox, Rheem, and Goodman on the van, so most no-heat calls are one visit.

Capacitors, contactors, refrigerant leaks, frozen evaporator coils, and condensers buried in weeds behind the gangway. We do full evacuate-and-recharge on R-410A and R-22 systems still running, and we'll tell you plainly when a 20-year-old unit isn't worth another summer.

South Shore is full of steam and hot-water systems older than most of the people living in them. We service Weil-McLain, Burnham, and Crown boilers, replace circulator pumps and zone valves, and rebalance radiators that heat the hallway and nothing else.

Cold rooms, whistling registers, and second floors that never match the first. We seal leaking trunk lines, resize undersized returns, and clean out the construction debris that's been sitting in a 1920s duct since the Reagan administration.

Nest, Ecobee, Honeywell T-series, and plain old round dials. We wire them, set the schedules properly, and show you how to use the app before we leave — because a smart thermostat nobody understands is just an expensive wall ornament.

When repair stops making sense, we quote three options — good, better, best — in writing, with the efficiency numbers spelled out. We pull the permit, we do the load calculation, and we haul the old unit away. Financing available on approved credit.

Two visits a year — a furnace tune-up in the fall, an AC tune-up in the spring — plus priority scheduling when something breaks in a cold snap. Members skip the diagnostic fee entirely and get 15% off parts.

Storefronts, churches, salons, and the corner restaurants along 75th and Stony Island. Rooftop units, make-up air, exhaust fans, and walk-in cooler condensers. We'll work around your open hours so you don't lose a Saturday of business.

Chicago Heating & Airs. started in a garage on East End Avenue with one van, one set of gauges, and a phone number written on the side in vinyl lettering. Thirty years later the address hasn't changed. The work has gotten a little more technical — variable-speed blowers, communicating thermostats, inverter compressors — but the arrangement is the same: you call, somebody who knows your building shows up.
We're a small crew, deliberately. Four techs and an office manager, all of whom have been here more than five years, two of whom grew up within a mile of the shop. That matters more than it sounds like it should. When you've worked on the same blocks for three decades, you know which buildings have the original 1920s ductwork, which ones were gutted in the nineties, and which landlords actually maintain their equipment. You stop guessing.
We're not the cheapest quote you'll get, and we're not trying to be. What we are is the company that tells you a fifteen-year-old condenser needs a $28 capacitor rather than a $6,000 replacement, and then tells you honestly when the opposite is true. Most of our new customers come from someone on their block who's been using us for a decade. That's the only marketing we've ever really needed.
Section 04/Visit
The shop sits on East End Avenue between 70th and 71st, a few blocks in from the lake. There's no showroom — we're a working shop — but you're welcome to stop by during the day, and the phone is answered around the clock Monday through Friday.
